20 Motivating Mantras To Use In A Spiritual Journey

Last Updated on February 12, 2024

We think of ourselves as having three components: the physical self, the mental self, and the spiritual self.

The idea of the spiritual self is central to Christianity. The spirit is part of the holy trinity: God the father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

Christians believe that when you are baptized, the Holy Spirit enters you and you are then guided by the wisdom and knowledge of the Holy Spirit.

Outside of religion, the spiritual self is understood to be a person’s authentic self. Our spirits are pure, good, and beautiful, even powerful.

How do we connect with our spiritual selves? To get in touch with our inner being, our spirit, we need to listen and be calm.

A powerful way to do this is by meditating.

Meditation has its roots in Eastern world practices.

Thousands of years ago, meditating became a practice followed in India and was practiced widely across Asia.

Meditation is a central part of Ayurvedic medicine.

To meditate effectively, you must be quiet and uninterrupted in order to get in tune with your inner being.

Many find meditating in the morning to be effective. Setting aside time at the beginning of our day, before the busyness of the day unfolds, can provide a quiet and peaceful way to greet the day.

Meditation and the concept of prayer are very similar and share a goal of connecting with the spiritual part of ourselves.

Getting in touch with the spirit within you can do much to support your overall health.

When we are rooted in the spiritual part of our being, we clarify our beliefs and values that guide us in all that we do: our interactions with others, our conduct in our career, our actions and reactions in life in general.

Mantras can play an important role in connecting us with and developing our spiritual self.

In this article, we will look at mantras for meditation and mantras to help guide your spiritual journey.

Mantra Meditation To Try

You may not be familiar with the term, mantra meditation. Let’s take a look at it and clarify its meaning.

Mantra meditation is simply meditating on a phrase that has significance for you. By repeating the phrase, you intensify its power to work positively within you.

In this way, you can bring about positive change in your life.

Mantra meditation can be used for any part of your life.

Perhaps you would like to improve your health. Maybe you want to have better, more meaningful relationships with your family members. It might be in the area of finances that you want to effect positive change.

Whatever aspect of your life you wish to focus on, you can use mantra meditation to do it.

How exactly do you do mantra meditation? It’s super easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Decide on what you want to focus on and determine your mantra. This could be any area of your life. For example, if you struggle with self-esteem then a mantra like, “I am enough” might be a good choice for you.
  2. Choose a time for your mantra meditation. Are you a morning person? If so, set the alarm for 15 or 20 minutes earlier than usual and start your day with mantra meditationIf you are not a morning person, you may find it best to carve out time at the end of the day after the kids are in bed and your work prep for tomorrow has been done.
  1. Determine a place for your mantra meditation. You want somewhere that allows for quiet and no interruptions. Someone bursting in on you will break the thought process, and leave you feeling annoyed and frustrated – definitely not the goal you’re going for.
  1. Get into a comfortable position. We usually think of meditation being done seated, in a cross-legged position, but this does not need to be the case. Feel free to sit in a chair or on the couch, or maybe you are more comfortable with standing. The key is comfort because you need to be able to stay in this position for the duration of your meditation.

Mantras To Guide Your Journey

We are all on a journey. The journey is called life. We are born into this world, we exist for a period of time, and our life ends.

The simplicity of this does not reflect the complexity of living life. During our time here on this earth, we experience much, we deal with trials and tribulations, we grow and develop, and, hopefully, we share love and joy.

The journey of each of us is unique as each one of us is an individual.

When we are aware of our journey, determine what we want the journey to be like, and set out a plan to achieve certain things on our journey, then we can live a life of meaning and purpose

Mantras can be powerful in helping us live the life we want to live.

For myself, looking after my physical self is currently a focus. My goal is to eat more healthily and incorporate some form of exercise into my daily routine.

A mantra I like to use that inspires me to choose healthy foods rather than those with lots of sugar and bad fats is “I choose to eat to nourish and energize my body.”

I am a morning person, so I like to meditate on this mantra for a bit before I start my day. This practice puts the mantra firmly in the forefront of my thinking.

I revisit the mantra throughout my day, especially at meal and snack times.

For many of us, accepting who we are and loving ourselves despite what we may think are shortcomings is a major hurdle we try to get over in order to make our life journey more joyful.

Whatever your area of focus is, let the mantras in the list that follows help you to make your journey of life what you want it to be.
